The National Hair & Beauty Federation

Established in 1942, the National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) has 7,000 Members and is the UK’s largest trade body for the hair, beauty and barbering industries. The NHBF focuses on helping Members to run successful and profitable hair and beauty businesses by providing advice, specialist support and tailored services to meet the unique challenges of running a salon or barbershop.

During the pandemic the NHBF provided advice and information to support its members and the wider hair & beauty sector through successive lockdowns and re-openings. It lobbied on their behalf to the Governments of all four nations, helping to secure the higher level of Restart Grant of £18,000 for personal care businesses.

The Fellowship for Creative Hairdressing recognised the way in which the NHBF had supported the hair and beauty sector by presenting it with its inaugural President’s Award “to celebrate individuals who are making a difference in real ways …for its communication in these unsettling times … they kept us in the loop and feeling secure”. Announcing the award, the Fellowship’s Chancellor Ashleigh Hodges said, “I can’t think of a more deserving winner”.
