Kevin McConway is Emeritus Professor of Applied Statistics at the Open University. He retired from a full-time position there in 2016, after 36 years of teaching statistics and researching in Bayesian statistical methods and in biological, biomedical and other statistical applications. He has been a Vice-President of the Royal Statistical Society. He also has a long-standing interest in the way statistics are presented and used in the media. He works with the Science Media Centre, has helped train journalists on how to report statistics and science more generally, and is often called upon to comment on statistical issues for journalists.
