Ian has 20 years’ experience in transport economics, regional policy making and planning. He spent 11 years at Transport for London, where he authored a number of high profile infrastructure strategies and led economic analysis for major projects, including Crossrail 2. Since November 2017, he has been Head of Transport Economics at the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr). One of the key specialisms of Ian’s team is providing clients with evidence and advice to support economic ‘place making’ and regional rebalancing. Ian recently led a high profile project for Openreach to estimate the nationwide and regional economic benefits of the roll out of full fibre broadband. Other recent work includes a project for Homes for the North looking at the housing needed to support Northern Powerhouse growth ambitions to 2050. Ian read Economics at the University of Cambridge and took a Masters in Transport Economics from the Institute of Transport Studies at the University of Leeds.
