Helen is a member of the Durham University Energy Institute advisory board and on the Council of Management at Church Action on Poverty. She is a former government minister and member of Parliament for Bishop Auckland in the North East. She was responsible for putting the Child Poverty Act on the statute book. She has extensive experience of government, public policy and service delivery having worked in HM Tresury and the voluntary sector. Specific interest in developing sustainable energy policies as an integral element of reaching net zero in the private and regulated sectors, with a strong background in financial management and public sector governance- she was a member of the powerful Public Accounts and Treasury select committees.
