Emma Crocombe
LONDON
Emma trained as an actor and teacher and is currently working as Director of Drama in a school in South West London. Starting Play Dead London in April 2018, as a way of raising money to support teachers in India, Emma registered Play Dead London as a limited company in September of the same year. Emma built the business to provide in-person murder mystery shows for charity events, corporate entertainment and public performances. The shows specialising in audience interaction and creating the immersive audience experience. Since lockdown in March last year, the company were forced to abandon their latest show ‘The Spy who SHOT me’, that was planned to be performed at The Morpeth Arms in Pimlico (opposite MI5/6). However, Emma saw an opportunity to move the shows to an online, virtual experience using Zoom. Starting with their first show ‘Space: The FATAL Frontier’, Play Dead London has now launched their seventh online show ‘(Dead) Man Overboard’ for April. They now provide virtual public and private entertainment, working with companies including Amazon, LadBible, the FT and Google, all whilst working from home. Play Dead London has also supported local charities and raised over £1800 in one month for 5 separate local charities affected by lockdown, as well as providing charity events for Children with Cancer UK and The Chartwell Cancer Trust. Emma has also continued to support other murder mystery and entertainment companies to help them adapt their shows to an online platform. Forming partnerships with AVA Experience, Flavour Venue Search, The Little Surprises Company and Fever/Secret London, Play Dead London has assisted in bringing market to those other businesses, and helping them grow in this tough time. Emma continues to work as a teacher, whilst developing the business and she has just been nominated for the We Are The City Rising Star Award 2021.
