Bob’s original vision was to dramatically improve education through the use of technology. He has founded three businesses which provide online services. He was originally a theoretical physicist, having done research at the Max Planck Institut, Stuttgart and taught at Manchester Grammar School before becoming Head of Physics at Bradford Grammar School in 1980 at the age of 29. He set up his first company, BTL, in 1985, followed by Virtual College in 1995 and ADI in 2005. BTL specialises in assessment technology for awarding bodies and professional associations and Virtual College specialises in online vocational training. ADI’s main product, MyPathway, is a patient communication system based on the use of mobile phones.
Bob’s businesses are built on new technology, are creative and innovative and sell products and services in over 110 countries. Many of the innovations by his companies have been “world firsts”. All these businesses have exceptional growth potential, and currently provide 300 high value jobs in the Bradford area and a further 120 worldwide.
